WHAT IS HERE

    ExponentialSmoothing cuml.tsa.ExponentialSmoothing, backed by
                           `holtwinters/` (DEVIATIONS 660-665, 697-699, 2717)
    kpss_test cuml.tsa.stationarity.kpss_test, backed by
                           `tsa/` (DEVIATIONS 671-672)
    select_d auto_arima's "Choose the hyper-parameter d"
block, backed by the same lane

WHAT IS NOT HERE, AND WHY IT IS NOT

ARIMA NOT IN THIS MODULE, and no longer absent from
                           the package: `mojolearn.ARIMA` exists (since
2026-09-01), lives in `_arima_impl.py` over its
own extension `_mojolearn_arima`, and has `fit`,
`predict` and `forecast`. This entry used to say
the lane had no `fit` because `estimate_x0` and
the batched L-BFGS were unimplemented; both landed
2026-09-01 and the false paragraph is DELETED
                           (the deletion `arima/README.md`'s hand-off
                           section requested), not reworded.
    AutoARIMA its `p / q / P / Q / k` search and the
                           information-criterion arms are NOT IMPLEMENTED
                           (`arima/NOT_IMPLEMENTED.tsv`). The differencing
half of that search IS here, as `kpss_test` and
                           `select_d`.

THESE ESTIMATORS ARE NOT sklearn-SHAPED, AND THAT IS DELIBERATE. The rest
of `mojolearn` promises `fit(X, y)` over a design matrix and `predict(X)`.
Time series do not have that shape and neither does cuML's surface for
them, so these follow cuML: the data goes into `ExponentialSmoothing`'s
CONSTRUCTOR as `endog`, `fit()` takes nothing, and the successor method is
`forecast(h)` rather than `predict`. Every default below is cuML's, not
statsmodels', and the two differ (statsmodels' `ExponentialSmoothing` has
no `ts_num`, defaults `seasonal=None`, and optimizes with L-BFGS-B rather
than the BFGS in `hw_optim.cuh`).

CROSS-VENDOR STATUS, STATED PLAINLY BECAUSE IT IS THE LIBRARY'S HEADLINE
CLAIM AND IT DOES NOT APPLY HERE. mojolearn's distinguishing property is
byte-identical float32 results across Apple, NVIDIA and AMD. Neither lane
behind this module has that property established. Both were gated on ONE
Apple M4, in both numeric modes, against a host oracle; neither has ever
been carried on an E1 leg (`tools/e1_bootstrap.sh` phase 8 names gemm, cd,
kde, linkage, svm, metrics and mamba, and none of these), so neither
appears in any `bench/results/e1/*/lanes/` artifact and neither is judged
by `tools/e3_round_judge.sh` section 7. `holtwinters/` holds row 57 of
`IDENTITY_PATHS.md` and that row says in its own words that no second
vendor has run it; `arima/` holds row 58 on the same terms; `tsa/` has no
row in the ledger at all. Under `MOJOLEARN_NUMERIC_MODE=identical` these
run the pinned spelling that is DESIGNED to be vendor-independent, which
is a claim about the source and not a measurement of three GPUs.

THE REFERENCE LIBRARY IS RETIRING ExponentialSmoothing. The pinned tree's
`holtwinters.pyx` carries a `.. deprecated:: 26.08` and says
`cuml.tsa.ExponentialSmoothing` will be removed in cuML 26.12. The implementation is
checked against v26.08.00 and stays valid; what expires is the ability to
check our numbers against a real cuML run.

[docs] class ExponentialSmoothing: """Holt-Winters exponential smoothing for a batch of seasonal series. Fits level, trend and season with additive or multiplicative seasonality, following ``cuml.tsa.ExponentialSmoothing``. As in cuML (and unlike scikit-learn), the data goes to the constructor as ``endog``, :meth:`fit` takes no arguments, and :meth:`forecast` produces forecasts. :meth:`predict`, :meth:`save` and :meth:`load` are additions: a saved model forecasts and predicts without refitting, also on a CPU-only install. The default ``initialization_method="estimated"`` differs from cuML: it estimates the initial level, trend and all seasonal states jointly with the smoothing parameters by minimizing the SSE over all points (statsmodels' definition). ``"heuristic"`` (alias ``"cuml"``) reproduces cuML's fit: initial states from a moving-average decomposition of the first ``start_periods`` seasons, then BFGS over the smoothing parameters only. The heuristic fit is faster and usually less accurate. Computation is float32; float64 input is converted (and copied). Non-finite values are refused with the series and position, and multiplicative seasonality needs strictly positive data. The numeric mode is the process default (see :func:`mojolearn.set_numeric_mode`). Parameters ---------- endog : array-like of shape (ts_num, n) or (n,) The series, one per row; 1-D is one series. ``n`` must be at least ``start_periods * seasonal_periods``. seasonal : {"additive", "add", "multiplicative", "mul"}, default "additive" Seasonal component type. seasonal_periods : int, default 2 Season length, at least 2. start_periods : int, default 2 Seasons used to seed the initial states, between 2 and ``seasonal_periods``. ts_num : int, default 1 Number of series; must match ``endog``. eps : float, default 2.24e-3 Optimizer tolerance, greater than 0 (cuML's default). initialization_method : {"estimated", "heuristic", "cuml"}, default "estimated" How initial states are found, as described above. Attributes ---------- level_, trend_, season_ : Array of shape (ts_num, n - seasonal_periods), float32 Fitted components. sse_ : Array of shape (ts_num,), float32 Sum of squared errors: over all ``n`` points under ``"estimated"``, over points ``seasonal_periods`` to ``n - 1`` under ``"heuristic"`` (cuML's SSE). alpha_, beta_, gamma_ : Array of shape (ts_num,), float32 Fitted smoothing parameters. n_iter_ : Array of shape (ts_num,), int32 Optimizer iterations. criterion_ : Array of shape (ts_num,), int32 Why the optimizer stopped. Under ``"heuristic"`` (BFGS): 0 iteration limit, 1 parameter change below tolerance, 2 error change below tolerance, 3 gradient norm below tolerance. Under ``"estimated"`` (Levenberg-Marquardt): 0 iteration limit, 1 no step lowers the SSE, 2 relative SSE decrease below 1e-6. Notes ----- cuML's ``verbose`` and ``output_type`` are not accepted. Results are float32 ``mojolearn.Array`` objects. When the BFGS line search hits its iteration limit, the lowest-loss trial point is kept rather than the last one, so such fits can differ from cuML's. Examples -------- >>> import numpy as np, mojolearn >>> t = np.arange(96, dtype=np.float32) >>> y = 20 + 0.1 * t + 3 * np.sin(2 * np.pi * t / 12).astype(np.float32) >>> model = mojolearn.ExponentialSmoothing(y, seasonal_periods=12).fit() >>> np.asarray(model.forecast(12)).shape (12,) """
